The natural group of Lactarius — section Albates — may be divided into two stirps: Piperatus and Vellereus. The author includes in stirps Piperatus, besides the known species Lactarius piperatus (L. ex Fr.) S. F. Gray and Lactarius glaucescens Crossl., a new species Lactarius eburneus sp. nov. instead of L. pergamenus Sw. ex Fr. Stirps Vellereus is subdivided into two groups according to the reaction of the context to KOH: Lactarius vellereus Fr. ex Fr. and Lactarius velutinus Bertillon. One strikingly different new species is added to each group: in the L. vellereus group Lactarius moravicus sp. nov. with green staining flesh, and in the L. velutinus group Lactarius hometii Gillet with pink staining flesh.
