Czechoslovak mycologists mark the 70th birthday of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Albert Pilát, DrSc., corresponding member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. The article outlines his life and career, including his early passion for mycology influenced by Prof. J. Velenovský, his long-standing work in the National Museum in Prague, and his important role in the foundation of the Czechoslovak Mycological Club and its journal "Mykologia."
