The author describes an interesting collection of an operculate discomycete found in a flowerpot in The Anderson’s Museum in Cairo. In his opinion, this fungus represents a new variety: Octospora tetraspora (Fuck.) Korf var. aegyptiaca J. Moravec var. nov. A description and drawing of this new variety and notes on differences from the type variety [= Octospora tetraspora (Fuck.) Korf var. tetraspora] are provided. It differs from the typical variety by broader ascospores and longer hyphae at the margin of the excipulum.
