Soil thin section studies of vegetation dominated by Nardus stricta revealed sporocarps of an Endogone species consistently associated with the roots. Apart from their small size and exospore wall, they resemble E. fasciculata. This supports the relationship between vesicular-arbuscular endophytes and Endogone sporocarps in grassland ecosystems.
