Scots pine and Norway spruce seedlings were inoculated with three isolates of Armillaria mellea to test for mycorrhiza formation. No artificial mycorrhiza developed over 12 months. Isolate 2/64 had slight stimulatory effect; isolate 7/64 was inhibitory. Armillaria is not confirmed as a mycorrhizal symbiont in these trees.
