A new sphagnicolous species of the genus Rhodophyllus Quél. is described, with large fruiting bodies up to 100 mm wide growing subcaespitose in water-soaked living sphagnum in a bog near Horská Kvilda in the Šumava Mountains (Bohemia, Czechoslovakia). The description includes morphological and anatomical details of carpophores, spores, and other structures.
