A new genus and species of discomycete, Poloniodiscus fischeri, is described based on material collected in the Białowieża primeval forest in Poland. The authors place it in the family Sarcoscyphaceae, tribe Urnuleae, with affinities to Wynnea and Desmazierella. It is distinguished by the unique morphology of its apothecia and paraphyses.
