The paper provides a report on the geographical distribution of Cortinarius pholideus (Fr. ex Fr.) Fr. in Czechoslovakia. Although this species is easily identifiable and taxonomically well-defined, it has only been recorded from a few locations, mainly in moist, birch-associated habitats on silicate soils. It is more frequent in northern and central Europe and rare in the south.
