  abstract   Downstream of the wastewater outflow from the brewery at Vysoký Chlumec (Bohemia), a considerable growth of fungal filaments occurs year-round. A permanent investigation from April 1970 to February 1971 revealed a stable composition, including Saprochaete saccharophyla, which appeared in large quantities from September 1970 to January 1971. The systematic placement of this organism remains uncertain. It is mostly found in waste and heavily polluted waters and is considered part of their biocenosis.
