  abstract   Twelve new localities of Phellinus cavicola in Europe are published: two from England (recent collections published as Phellinus umbrinellus) and ten from France (old collections published mostly as resupinate forms of Xanthochrous ribis). Acer campestre has been ascertained as new host trees for Phellinus cavicola.
