  abstract   The authors recapitulate the existing knowledge about the distribution and ecology of the rare polypore Inonotus rheades (Pers.) Bond. et Sing. in Czechoslovakia, where it is known only from 13 localities. Polyporus cojfeaceus Velen., which has been treated under our species, was found to be Inonotus radiatus (Sow. ex Fr.) P. Karst, on the basis of Velenovský’s original material.
