ŠUTARA J. (1987): The limit between the genera Boletinus and Suillus.  Česká Mykologie 41(3): 139-152   (published: 10th August, 1987)
  abstract   The limit between the genera Boletinus Kalchbr. and Suillus Mich. ex Adans. (Boletales) is discussed. These genera differ in several features. According to the author, Boletinus is distinguished from Suillus primarily by a sterile stipe covering formed by a trichodermium. In the genus Suillus, a predominant part of the stipe surface is fertile, covered with a caulohymenium. The anatomical difference in stipe covering supports treating Boletinus as a separate genus.
