  abstract   The hydnoid, corticioid fungus Steccherinum albidum (Basidiomycota) is described as new from West Sussex in southern England. Basidiomes are whitish when fresh, resupinate to pileate, and are microscopically distinct in having unusally small, suballantoid basidiospores.
