  abstract   Two rare species of Phlebia s.l. (Meruliaceae) with hydnoid hymenophore are described and illustrated. Macro- and microscopic characters of Phlebia acanthocystis and P. bispora are described and supplemented with photographs of in situ fruitbodies and line drawings. Distribution and ecology in Europe are discussed for both species. They are compared to similar taxa found in Europe.
