  abstract   Based on authors’ experience and data from literature the key suggests identification of microscopical fungi according to morphology of mycotic elements found in histological sections from human and animal tissues. Part III: Concise information about species and varieties comprising remarks on occurrence and character of diseases in humans and animals, morphology of fungi in tissues and histopathological pictures. Examples include Histoplasma capsulatum var. capsulatum and its teleomorph Ajellomyces capsulatus.

  abstract   Various definitions of the term dimorphism in fungi are briefly discussed and a general concept is given with a suggested morphological classification of the dimorphism. Dimorphism (and polymorphism) is delimited as an environmentally controlled reversible phenotypic duality (or plurality in the case of polymorphism) in the morphogenesis of the vegetative fungal cells, which is not restricted to pathogenic species and to the mycelial-yeast transitions only. A systematic list and an alphabetical index of the fungi exhibiting the phenomena of cellular dimorphism or polymorphism are presented.
