  abstract   While studying variability in European specimens of Ganoderma adspersum (S. Schulz.) Donk (= G. europaeum Steyaert), it was found that the only reliable distinguishing feature from G. applanatum (Pers. ex S. F. Gray) Pat. is spore size; other characters are variable and unreliable. A list of herbarium localities is given for Czechoslovakia and other European countries. The species appears to grow primarily outside natural forests, such as in parks and gardens.
