  abstract   The author presents the occurrence of six species of the genus Ascochyta Lib. found in Czechoslovakia between 1967–1981 on plants from the family Apiaceae. A new species, Ascochyta carvi Ondřej, was found on caraway (Carum carvi L.), causing death of emerging seedlings and drying out of the plants after flowering. The disease is seed-transmitted.
