  abstract   Anthracoidea vankyi was found in Moravia (eastern part of Czech Republic).It is a new species for this area. This smut is rare in Europe, while the host(Carexmuricataagg.) is common. All host plants in the specimens examined were revised.Carexchabertii was discovered as a new host.
