  abstract   Two very rare polypores are reported from the Czech Republic: Sarcoporia polyspora, for the first time, and Jahnoporus hirtus, for the second time. Several basidiocarps of both polypores were collected and their growth and development were monitored for a period of three months. The collections and localities are described and their world distribution as well as affinities with other fungi are commented.
