  abstract   Based on a revision of all herbarium material and literature, the author maps the known distribution of Leucopaxillus gentianeus (Quél.) Kotl. in Czechoslovakia. He addresses nomenclatural issues and proposes the new combination L. gentianeus (Quél.) Kotl. instead of Leucopaxillus amarus (Alb. et Schw. ex Fr.) Kuhn., arguing that Agaricus amarus (Alb. et Schw.) ex Fr. is not identical with the species under discussion.
