CUDLÍN P., MEJSTŘÍK V., ŠAŠEK V. (1980): The effect of the fungicide Dithane M-45 and the herbicide Gramoxone on the growth of mycorrhizal fungi in vitro. Česká Mykologie 34(4): 191-198 (published: 1980)
abstract
The minimum inhibiting concentration of the fungicide Dithane M-45 and the herbicide Gramoxone was determined in pure cultures of 13 species of fungi forming mycorrhizae with Pinus sylvestris L., grown under submerged conditions (reciprocal shaker). According to their pesticide sensibility the fungal species were divided into five groups. Gramoxone showed a less intensive inhibition than Dithane M-45.
MEJSTŘÍK V., KELLEY A.P. (1979): Mycorrhizae in Sequoia gigantea Lindl. et Gard. and Sequoia sempervirens Endl. Česká Mykologie 33(1): 51-54 (published: 1979)
abstract
Endophytic mycorrhizae of vesicular-arbuscular type were described in the fine roots of Sequoia gigantea and Sequoia sempervirens. Mycorrhizal infection was stronger in thick brown roots, while thin white roots were weakly infected. Arbuscules and vesicles were present in the parenchyma cells. Hyphae measured 3.45–8.95 μm in diameter. Roots were devoid of root hairs. The study emphasizes the importance of mycorrhizae in the survival of these conifers in natural environments.
MEJSTŘÍK V. (1972): First International Mycological Congress in Exeter, England, 1971. Česká Mykologie 26(1): 63-64 (published: 1972)
abstract
The First International Mycological Congress took place in Exeter, England, from 7 to 15 September 1971. The congress attracted over a thousand participants from around the world. Scientific sessions covered various branches of mycology and included specialized lectures, symposia, and film screenings. The congress concluded with the establishment of the International Mycological Association.
MEJSTŘÍK V. (1969): Inoculation of Pinus silvestris L. and Picea excelsa (Lam.) Link. with Armillaria mellea (Vahl ex Fr.) Kumm. for mycorrhiza formation. Česká Mykologie 23(4): 253-255 (published: 15th October, 1969)
abstract
Scots pine and Norway spruce seedlings were inoculated with three isolates of Armillaria mellea to test for mycorrhiza formation. No artificial mycorrhiza developed over 12 months. Isolate 2/64 had slight stimulatory effect; isolate 7/64 was inhibitory. Armillaria is not confirmed as a mycorrhizal symbiont in these trees.
