abstract
Crown rust of oats (Puccinia coronata var. avenae) is widespread in Europe, with varying incidence by region and year. Virulence analyses revealed high variability. Most ineffective resistance genes were Pc 35, 40, 45, 46, 47, 54, while Pc 39, 48, 50, 55, 58, 59 were most effective. Regional differences influence the effectiveness of resistance breeding.
