abstract
From the fur of 743 wild mammals in Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia, 1584 fungi representing 76 genera were isolated. Keratinolytic fungi made up 18.4% of the isolates. Dermatophytes such as Microsporum cookei, M. persicolor, and Trichophyton ajelloi were detected along with pathogenic species like Aspergillus fumigatus and Cephalosporium acremonium. Comparison with bird plumage mycoflora revealed both similarities and differences.
